Important Announcement Regarding Changes to GLWP
Great Lakes Water Polo will be going through a transition beginning Fall 2011. Washtenaw Area water polo instruction has evolved into several localized Community groups, over the past couple years. In adapting to best serve its members, structural changes will be taking place in the GLWP Administration.
It is the opinion of Head Coach Matt Anderson, upon consultation with the current GLWP Board, that the Water Polo Community is still in need of supplemental “off high school season” training time, in a fun productive environment. There also seems to be continuing interest in age group (10-13 year-old), learn-to-play opportunities.
Therefore, the program is expected to continue, on a slightly smaller scale, managed directly by our head coach Matt Anderson, with minimal outsourced administrative assistance. One aspect of this restructuring is the anticipated elimination of a formal Board of Directors, whose role in the past twelve months has already been reduced substantially.
The Club would revert to its original existence as Anderson Polo, which could then use the name Michigan Water Polo Club. This change would allow its members to play as a “Michigan” Team, even making use of the “M” for advertising and apparel.
Word of mouth and returning loyal families have been the greatest sources of retention, keeping Great Lakes alive in our Community for years. At this time we would like to invite you to give us your feedback on this pending change in our Club. Your input will serve as a welcome contribution as we head towards the transition this Fall.
