Summer Session Times Have Changed
Monday the 21st we will be shifting times for our summer session, due to the Pioneer High School pool being double booked. We discovered this week that there was an accidental double booking. Both GLWP and Club Wolverine were under the impression that the pool was theirs. As a result, we have had to make some adjustments to our schedule.
We are continuing with our summer program, and have altered the times and format to enhance flexibility for our members. We will not having a specific boys and girls session. Sessions will be co-ed and participants can come to either session. This should enable as many kids to participate as possible. As a bonus if you wish to join one session after it has begun, you can! In fact, if you want to stay into the other one that is fine as well!
Our goal is for all members to have as much exposure to the game of water polo as possible.
Again, beginning 6/21 sessions will continue to be conducted at PHS pool .
Times are:
1:00 to 2:30 HS Coed
2:30 to 4:00 HS Coed
4:00 to 5:15 Age Group.
If you are unable to make the new times you may contact Mary Fisher at fishermom04@yahoo.com

2009 Junior Olympics
Great Lakes Water Polo is interested in entering the following teams for the 2009 Junior Olympic Competition in Palo Alto, California :- One Boys 18U team for the period of 7/25-28
- One Girls 18U team for
the period of 7/29-8/2
This is a fantastic experience that allows our players to compete in a great environment with great competition. Last year we had a great experience.
Our goal is to field a team of 12-14 players. If we do not meet that number we will have to consider other options.
The estimated cost (based upon last year) is around $800 dollars (covers hotel, entry fee, ground transportation, coaches). This is an estimate and will adjust up or down based upon costs.
The athlete would be responsible for their own airfare (TBD) and cost of food (around $35 per day).
If you are interested, please send an email to Brian Smith (IU81@aol.com) and a copy to Matt Anderson (bluepolo@umich.edu) by 4/26/09.
We realize that this is a significant investment in these economic times. This is a great learning experience that will benefit our players in many ways.
Thank you,
GLWP Board

Tricia Davies, Club Treasurer for several years, and Stewart Nelson, Club President, are both resigning their positions due to other obligations. The new registration form is available on our Sign-up page. Starting with Fall of 2007, there will be a renewed emphasis on pre-registration by mail. There will also be a session manager to oversee the beginning of each session to make sure all swimmers have registered before they enter the pool. Several opportunities for in-person registration will be offered in November. Watch this space for details.9/26/07
State of the Club Message
The GLWP Board met on Sunday, September 16th at Canham Natatorium. The club is in good financial condition, has had a good year and plans to make 2008 even better! Several changes in session fees were agreed upon, including discontinuing the 'multiple sessions' discount and the annual club fee. There has been a problem with late session payments and a lack of accountability at practices for who has paid and who has not. The club hopes to solve this problem by emphasizing mail-in registration and by having a parent serve as 'Session Manager' to take care of the new session paperwork and record keeping. Read Club President Stewart Nelson's 'state of the club' message for more details.9/25/2007
